You Are EnoughFeb 23, 2020
Social Media is an amazing tool for keeping in touch with friends and loved ones, for getting inspired and for sharing your accomplishments. But it can also be a place of deep anxiety and feelings of worthlessness.
Scrolling through Instagram, I came across an advertisement for an airbrushing app which is supposed to turn you into a "hotter version of yourself". Everything from your skin, your hair and eyes and the angles of your face and body are changed, contorted to suit some arbitrary ideal of what's beautiful.
There are so many things wrong with this fixation on being "Insta-worthy", not least of which is that it creates a feeling that you aren't enough as you are.
I've seen hundreds, maybe even thousands of women, over the past 7 years learn how to ride bikes. Some are in their 20s and some in their 70s. Some started with CWRB as beginners, some had just moved cities or even countries and wanted to make some new friends. All of them were 100% unique and 100% beautiful just as they were.
As someone who spends all my time working with women, I find it easier than some to recognise the true beauty in women. There's beauty in our willingness to encourage others that we don't even know. There's beauty in our resilience and our ability to get back up after a fall. There's beauty in the pride of achieving a new milestone.
Please know that you are enough. Just as you are. Just as nature intended. Tall, short, heavy, thin, old, young. You are beautiful. I see you. I want to know you.
You. Are. Enough.
